Project Design & Technical Direction
  • ​The Site Survey: Determine the technical assets of the control environment, venue, studio or location, including power, lighting, sound, video and communications equipment Identify stage facilities necessary for events and performances in advance of production dates. This doesn't change in a virtual event world. Sound stages, Green screen, Control environments - they all need the right spec.

  • Design video, lighting and sound systems for stage or corporate live or virtual productions and projects; Assist client designers in selecting best utilization of resources in a budget mindful framework.

  • Recruit, train and assign paid technical staff or volunteers for individual shows.

 

Because a Technical Director may be called upon to deal with a wide range of technical issues, I benefit from a working knowledge of productions, presentations, equipment and crews, common practices, safety precautions and procedures.

 

  • Crew Chief: I will take the burden of finding and scheduling staff off of the client's shoulders. I will determine build-schedules, and what crew will be needed on any particular day.

Stage Management​
I am an experienced leader of creative and technical teams who has stage-managed top-quality events by facilitating communication, managing myriad details, creatively solving problems, and caring for client, artists and staff.  Known for my dedication and consistent willingness to go above and beyond to get the job done, often while working long hours or in challenging circumstances, I will persist until your vision is realized.
  • Creation of show flow documents for all crew to reference

  • Call cue to cue through rehearsals and show providing timely and clear direction to crew and assistant stage managers.  As the theater folks might say, I 'run the book'.

  • Blocking for light, camera, sound and stage cues

  • Deal personably and confidently with pragmatic stage crew, high profile executives and emotional performers.

  • Be creative in finding solutions to technical problems in real time.

Technical Services

Live/Virtual Event Streaming:

  • VMix, Zoom, Webinar, Virtual Event Platforms. As we bounce back in a Covid World  the virtual event is the new normal.

  • Knowledge of streaming hardware and software, hosting and other online delivery elements

 
Video:
  • Plan, set and operate video and display systems, setting up and routing equipment cabling (switchers, GFX, scalers, distribution amplifiers, cameras, CCUs, playback and recording devices, etc.)

  • Direct live video, including calling multiple live camera shots, live switching of all video/gfx sources.

  • Projection/ Video Display: Knowledge of video projection and display systems including projectors, screens, flat panel and LED display systems and associated rigging

Audio:

  • Knowledge of small, medium and large venue audio systems and associated rigging

  • Experience working with audio engineers to select, install and operate audio equipment for live events

Lighting:

  • Knowledge of lighting instruments including conventional and intelligent systems, dimmers, control systems and associated rigging

  • Experience working with lighting designers to select and implement equipment for live corporate events

Scenery and Environmental Design:

  • Experience working with designers to create custom scenery and integrated lighting and projection systems including hard wall scenery, flexible and fabric elements, and mapped environments

Presentation Graphics:

  • Experience using PowerPoint, Keynote, and other presentation graphic software, hardware and tools to create presentations
